I would agree with Yasuo. It seems like a bug fix to me: maybe a RFC is
not necessary.

I would agree with Yasuo. It seems like a bug fix to me: maybe a RFC is not necessary.

To me, too. But it looked controversial enough to start an RFC instead of a commit war.
I think the behaviour pre-5.4 was weird and post-5.4 just of limited use, to say the least.

I think it would be good to put an example of why this is immensely useful
in the RFC. Conditions such as when a user aborts but there is a
transactional situation where the output is necessary of publishing
elsewhere.

But yes, this is a huge +1.
