Seems like a weird inconsistentcy to me, and I think the "alias" fix
is the proper fix here for BC.

Yes, I just don't have a working machine to test it atm. I can fire up a
VM, but it will take time.

If you merge it (or anyone else), please remember to mark it as a doc
bug after so we can note such in the manual (didn't look, but I doubt
it is there else I'm sure this issue was more known)
