Hi all,
I'm currently trying to reset my wiki.php.net password so I can propose an
RFC, but unfortunately I'm getting the following error messages when I
reset it via the page "https://wiki.php.net/start?do=resendpwd":
! Unable to modify user data. Please inform the Wiki-Admin
! error modifying user data
Who is the Wiki-Admin? How can I go about contacting them so I can gain
access to the Wiki?
Secondly, is wiki.php.net still the best place to propose features and
collaboratively discuss them? It seems like several of the "under
discussion" RFCs on the Wiki were closed with 0 votes cast in favor or
against. Is proposing RFCs via the Wiki still the preferred mechanism for
proposing features in PHP?

I think that this functionality is not supposed to work (I'll have a
look at how to disable it), because the password for the Wiki is the
password for the general php.net account. To reset the password follow
https://master.php.net/forgot.php (which is already linked from the
Wiki start page).

Yes, see https://wiki.php.net/rfc/howto.

He doesn't have PHP karma -- so it should have worked. idk why it didn't.
But he doesn't have wiki karma either, so I'm not sure why he is
resetting the password anyway -- Matt, you can't do anything with that
account.
I think in fact, a loggedout user has more privileges then default
registered wiki account.

Hah!
Ok. Matt, please use https://master.php.net/forgot.php if you don't
remember your php.net VCS password.
As for your wiki account, its useless.
Please use your php.net VCS account to login to the wiki.
It will override your wiki account as its a dud.

Wouldn't it be reasonable then to disable the password reset
functionality? This can easily be done in the admin panel by checking
"Disable DokuWiki Settings" -> "Set new password" (see
https://www.dokuwiki.org/config:disableactions).
And maybe we should consider to deactivate the Wiki registration
completely, and instead link to the Git account request page.

Every blue moon there is a person without VCS account that would like
to write an RFC.
That must be possible.

This may be a naive question, but wouldn't that just be a case of giving
them a global account with only wiki karma?

This gives (incomplete list)
- a @php.net mail address
- full bugs.php.net power (except security bugs)
- access to all things at master.php.net (this includes moderating
notes for the manual)
Which is a bit much for somebody where all we know is "I want to write
an RFC"

Ah, I was right, it was naive. I kind of assumed from the way people
talked about it that all those things would require their own separate
karma already. I'll stop butting in. ;)
