Good evening all,
I often receive duplicate emails when somebody replies to me or to a
thread containing me. I assume this is because of use of the "Reply All"
button, where "Reply List" should be used (or "Reply" if your client
lacks it, but setting the To: field to internals).
Is this the reason? If so, I'd suggest to people who are guilty of it to
use their client's Reply List feature. It saves the environment by
avoiding duplicate emails :P
Thanks.

This has been discussed before. Some people like the direct To's
since it lets them filter messages better and/or their mail readers
don't display the duplicates.

Rasmus also pointed out to me that people aren't necessarily (still)
subscribed. I rest my case.

Gmail has only Reply and Reply To All option, I usually try to remember to
delete all the receipients except the mailing list, but I'm not perfect and
sometimes I miss that step :(

As mentioned above, it is perhaps a better idea to actually use Reply
All. Anyhow, this discussion is now over.
For the record, I think "guilty" in my OP was a bad choice.

I would appreciate you stop pretending to lead this project.
This is clearly described on http://php.net/mailinglists
I also suggest you read the linked mailinglists rules, as you break at
least two of them on weekly basis.
If that does not stop we will be forced to block you.

I don't consider myself to do so and I apologise if the original post
came off as arrogant, it was rather.

My bad, I must have missed it. My original post was really quite poorly
thought-out and I shall try to think more carefully in future.

I have re-read the rules and will try not to break them any further,
though off the top of my head I can only think of one which I have
broken recently.

He never did. But I would appreciate if you would consider it.

Right, and a simple friendly reminder is enough. And it would be much
appreciated if such aggressive mail for trivial troubles like that can
be avoided.
If that does not stop we will be forced to block you.
No we won't.

You must be getting duplicate from the list server to notify you of a
reply. I only get for the thread I reply to or my own new threads.
Generally I use NNTP.

As a habitual 'reply all' and clear the extra addresses I've only just spotted
that at some point seamonkey has aquired a 'reply to list' optio :) We get stuck
with one way of working and so other options tend to go un-noticed ...
