We are hard at work on setting an RC record with 5.2.6, with the RC5.
Nothing too unusual, this time just a few fairly trivial fixes, so I
think we are finally ready for the stable release. I'd like to ask all
developers to avoid commits to 5.2 branch in the next week to avoid
last minute regressions.

Please try RC5 against your code and let us know if you encounter any
new problems or regressions. If no critical issues appear, the final
release will come out next week.

What about Windows binaries? I'm not sure if we have had them for any
RC thus far...

Very good point. As I do test 5.2.x on windows while developing, we
really need official RC before we can go stable. As far as I remember,
Elisabeth was working on our build box. What's the current status (no
hurry, only wondering)?

I can try to build a set using my windows boxes and updates some
libraries while being at it (thinking of libpng first, or openssl).

Cheers,

Pierre

Edin, our previous Win32 build master appears to be indisposed at the
moment hence lack of win32 binaries. If someone else wants to produce
them great, if not, we'll go on without them.

We will manage to provide. Please us give us a couple of days to
figure out a working solution. To release 5.2.6 stable without win32
RC is not an option.

Thanks for your understanding!

Thanks everyone!

I'd like to provide some help too with getting the the MSI installers
built. Especially on snaps.php.net where we haven't had a successful
MSI build in over 2 months ( some permissions issues ) and I know
there are some fixes for Vista and FastCGI configuration problems
solved.

Have snapshots disappeared too? Just grab the latest snapshot and you
have the RC..

I'd be willing to take a bash at it. What's required? I have access to
a Windows XP SP2 machine.

Hi Gwynne,

I'd be willing to take a bash at it. What's required? I have access to a
Windows XP SP2 machine.

MSVC 6.0 - and up to date libraries for everything, which would be my
personal stumbling block right now. Elizabeth's probably best-placed to deal
with it, if she has time.

I can do the builds until Edin appears - however before I roll the RC -
what libs need to be upgraded for windows? Speak now or wait until the
next release ;)

Thanks,

Hi
Mysql and Postgresql libs are not updated quite a while.

libmysql should be updated in all cases to at least 5.0.51. There is a
nasty bug with long history which is fixed when using 5.0.51 . The
my_thread_end bug. Let's smash it now and forever.

holo

I've compiled with all extensions I use on my project.

phpinfo()
PHP Version => 5.2.6RC5

System => Windows NT JARISMAR 5.1 build 2600
Build Date => Apr 11 2008 15:50:57

=====================================================================
TEST RESULT SUMMARY

Exts skipped : 48
Exts tested : 31

Number of tests : 5479 4178
Tests skipped : 1301 ( 23.7%) --------
Tests warned : 0 ( 0.0%) ( 0.0%)
Tests failed : 48 ( 0.9%) ( 1.1%)

I've sent the result test report to PHP's QA Team at reports@lists.php.net
I will improve my windows env to be able to run others extensions so
that I can run more tests in a near future.

Is that over an hour for the tests? Or is the formatting off?

Yes, over an hour. I just do an "nmake test".

We may maintain a list in the wiki somewhere around
http://wiki.php.net/internals/windows/release ?

Checking this list can then be part of the RM job.
