I'm looking for a Reference Manual for the Zend API and/or PHP Internals.
I've found about forty 'leven "how-to" and "learn by example" talks,
slide-shows, tutorials, etc for writing a PHP extension. Don't get me
wrong, these are great!
But they leave me with questions about a bunch of macros and ton of
code, and while I can read C source, and puzzle my way through it
eventually, more or less, to some degree... Well, I'd be a whole lot
better off if I found the moral equivalent of http://php.net/manual
only for "Internals"
Did I just miss it, or is it a pipe dream, or is it just not seen to
be useful?

http://lxr.php.net should help you with decoding all those macros.
But if it's a reference you want: [plug]Extending and Embedding PHP:
Available soon from Amazon.com and other fine retailers[/plug]
A not-insignificant percentage of the appendices is made up of just this
kind of API reference. Not to mention the meat of the book which covers the
theory and pratice of using those API calls and macros. I don't have an
exact release date yet, but soon, very very soon.

I already know that.
There's a 404 in the zend.com error_log, as of a half-hour ago, for
the 3rd installment of her articles on writing extensions... :-)
and I'll also back Sara :) she's good.

Please take this conversation off-list. There isn't a 3rd installment
published on zend.com and you're using up a lot of bandwidth.

Possibly...
The last Zend API docs bash was when PHP 4.0 was released.
Gabor (PHP Manual Editor) negotiated with Zend and got the docs under
php.net jurisdiction as of last year.
Hartmut has done some work there already, and I intend to complete it. But
the original plan was to start last November.
