Hi,
I'd like to know what's the current status
of the PDO Firebird driver. Today I tested
it a bit, and I believe it's not really in par
with the other drivers.
Is there a public roadmap or a comparison table with
the features already implemented in each driver?
Is Ard still active?
TIA
Best regards,

No such table is available. In general all drivers should support the
full range once ready. However pdo firebird seems quite abandoned and
i could not make it work on http://gcov.php.net
Is Ard still active?
That is the important questions :-) Ard?

It is my understanding that Ard has not done any work on this for some
time, since the lack of some of the key Firebird/Interbase features from
PDO means that we still have to use the native driver as well. So no one
has the time to work on a limited PDO port :(

Hi Marcus,
thanks for your prompt reply

I see. That's unfortunate :-|

I really hope he's still active, he did a terrific
job with the PHP5's interbase extension...

Guys,
Sorry for the late reply. As you might have guessed already, PHP is not
a high priority for me at the moment.
First of all, you will probably remember that I was not completely
satisfied with the direction set out for PDO, the reason being that the
chosen model for PDO doesn't map really well to Firebird/Interbase.
I wholeheartedly agree with 'majority rules' and all of that, and I'm
convinced that PDO will be a great success. But for me, PDO/Firebird
isn't that much of a challenge anymore.
The main reason for not participating lately, however, is that I'm
really busy working in a completely different field. I'm doing research
on PVR-applications for Philips [no, I had nothing to do with the patent
about blocking the controls during a commercial block :-)], and it
doesn't involve PHP or Firebird. So it seems I won't be of any use to
you lot in the near future.
Best regards,
Ard

I'm looking for someone to maintain the firebird driver for PDO.

I've posted a "call for help" here:
http://www.firebirdnews.org/?p=316
also, if anyone is interested, I wrote a report
of the current status of the PDO_Firebird driver:
http://www.alberton.info/php_pdo_firebird_status.html
Comments are welcome.
