For those voting No on this, would you accept the "automatic setter
injection interface" alternative? (That would still work for the original
goal of the RFC.)

Yes, it would still be a terrible API, but it wouldn't suffer from the
static/irreplaceable nature of this RFC

I would vote yes on interface + setter injection during newInstance.
