As stated last week, the vote for your PHP 8.1 Release Managers opens today.

Now, if fact.

Please take your newly reset authentication credentials over to https://wiki.php.net/todo/php81 and place your ranked votes.

A few reminders:
1/ Joe Watkins, as the only "veteran" volunteer has a guaranteed spot.
2/ Since Joe offered to mentor a pair of rookies rather than the typical one, we still have two seats up for grabs.
3/ As there are 8 candidates and only 2 seats, it may take up to six rounds of STV elimination to reach the two winners, but it will likely take fewer.
4/ Please use all your votes, and use them on unique candidates. Voting for the same candidate twice only wastes votes.
5/ If you don't know the candidates well enough to make a decision, reach out and ask them questions!
6/ Vote based on perceived trust and dependability, not popularity.

Good luck to all candidates, and may the odds be ever in your favor.

A quick reminder about RM voting. We've got 27 votes so far, but I know
there are more folks active. The voting period ends on Monday April 26th.
I hadn't set a time, but let's call it 14:40 America/Chicago (UTC-0500)
since I opened it at that time on the 12th.

Again, best of luck to the candidates, and looking forward to a smooth and
successful PHP 8.1 release.

3. Patrick Allaert
4. Gunnard Engebreth
5. Sergey Panteleev
6. Eric Van Johnson

Best regards,

The voting for PHP 8.1 Release Managers has now closed.

In the first round, both Ben Ramsey and Patrick Allaert handily captured a
quota of votes to secure seats meaning that 2nd and further rounds do not
need to be considered and we have our results.

The Veteran RM for 8.1 will be Joe Watkins.
The Rookie RMs for 8.1 will be Ben Ramsey and Patrick Allaert.

Congratulations to Joe, Ben, and Patrick, and a big thank you to all who
volunteered to step up and assist with this essential role.

Please refer to
https://github.com/php/php-src/blob/master/docs/release-process.md#new-release-manager-checklist
for tips on getting permissions and other pre-release tasks.
And of course, reach out to the RM list and/or individual prior release
managers at any time for help.
