Having mistakenly cloned php-src/php <https://github.com/php-src/php>
instead of php/php-src <https://github.com/php/php-src> (again), I figured
I'd ask -- is php-src used for anything?

The code seems to be quite old, and the content of php-src/php-src.github.io
<https://github.com/php-src/php-src.github.io> is a music video. Neither
seems productive to the PHP community.

Am I missing something?

My guess is that someone set up the php-src GitHub organization to troll people, since the Rebecca Black “Friday” music video is clearly a kind of rickroll. :-)

Probably no one here controls that organization—or is unwilling to admit it. I wonder if we can ask GitHub to close it since it causes confusion?

Cheers,
Ben

That commit was done by Leigh <leight@gmail.com>, which was active on
internals in 2016. Perhaps we should ask them to remove it?

cheers,

Indeed. It was meant as a joke, not to deceive anyone. I'll take it down :)

FWIW, I thought it was hilarious. :-)

Happy Rebecca Day!

The lack in process of Github in making sure that people don't land
grab popular project names is.....disconcerting.

FYI, I grabbed https://github.com/php-pecl a while ago, in case it was
ever needed and to prevent 'bad guys' from hosting altered versions of
extensions on there.

cheers

Thanks for removing php-src/php, Leigh.
