Essentially this.  Beyond the "why bother" question, however, is the
simple matter that distro people are simply better positioned to do
this. I'm not going to enumerate the many reasons why this is. They
should be obvious.

It is useful to have a build on every commit.  There are (at least)
two automated CI systems doing that already.
