I'd like it if we didn't even begin to consider this line of argument =
("it would probably already pass"), and I'm glad that we're remaining =
open to debate here (and it should kept open for much, much longer).

If this aims to be a ~democratic process, then the approach cannot =
simply be "enough people are in agreement, done". An essential goal of a =
democracy or a process that attempts to emulate/imitate is not to simply =
assert the interests of the majority, but protect the interests of the =
minorities - or, in this case, those in opposition.
