Andrea - that is just the sort of insight I was hoping for. I've spotted a few options now I'm thinking about this the other way around. I'm not sure that the 'compile' approach will fit well with the real time work flow? But php.js has flagged up the use of conversion to AST trees which I think was something being discussed internally for PHP as well? My original post my have appeared off topic, but I knew there was something dovetailing in with other php discussions - just could not remember what. It's just a pity that what is available seems still very much work in progress and usage in some cases is not obvious. -- Lester Caine - G8HFL ----------------------------- Contact - http://lsces.co.uk/wiki/?page=contact L.S.Caine Electronic Services - http://lsces.co.uk EnquirySolve - http://enquirysolve.com/ Model Engineers Digital Workshop - http://medw.co.uk Rainbow Digital Media - http://rainbowdigitalmedia.co.uk
