I don't know what "uber-contentios" means, but no solution is going to 
satisfy 100% of people. The solution we have now is good for many uses, 
even if not for 100% of them, and delaying this much needed feature 
because of couple of vocal people of the list is just insane.

Going back to what? To endless discussions about separator characters? 
No, we are not, and good riddance. Imperfect solution is much better 
than perpetual absence of any solution.
