I will not introduce it back in any form. The README.PEAR is all I would like to see in any future PHP distributions. Any other solutions is impossible to manage in a safe and sane way. As some knows, I was fighting the past years to get PEAR ready in time for PHP releases, in time and with not too much troubles, bugs, or issues. This task is getting impossible and it does not seem that it will be better that soon. I do not think it will have many objections from internals@. Andi, Zeev or Ilia know more than anyone else how hard it was. But this time is over for quite a long time, only for php 6.0 (as a reminder). Regards, --Pierre
